Bird on a Plinth Still Lifes Intriguingly the lot was accompanied

Intriguingly the lot was accompanied by an open letter from Grant in praise of Whitten so perhaps they were friends

Like so many studio photographs of the day

In this piece the owl has become a sort of tribal costume but with a life of its own: Remaining standing long after its owner has departed

but we thought biscuits were the way to go

Sheffer’s work is presumably an illustration intended for publication in a mainstream magazine

Bird on a Plinth Still Lifes Intriguingly the lot was accompaniedMixed Earthenware and terracotta clays decorated with slips and oxides. Multiple firings including smoke firings. Burnished with wax. A bird with a blue head perches on a tall plinth that is decorated with arcane symbols. Dreaming of birds symbolises hope, harmony and freedom.
